Child & Teen Inpatient Mental Health Programs
Wyoming Behavioral Institute provides short-term inpatient crisis stabilization and residential treatment for children and teens experiencing acute behavioral health needs. Our programs offer a structured environment designed to stabilize symptoms and support families in planning next steps. Families are involved throughout the treatment process to ensure coordinated care and communication.
Level-of-care assessments are available 24 hours a day.
When Inpatient Care May Be Appropriate
Inpatient treatment may be recommended when a child or teen:
- Is experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide
- Is at risk of harming others
- Is unable to function safely at home or school
- Requires stabilization following a significant emotional or behavioral crisis
If you are unsure whether inpatient care is appropriate, our admissions team can help assess your child’s needs.
Inpatient Programs for Children & Teens
Our inpatient services include short-term crisis stabilization and longer-term residential treatment options based on clinical needs.
Acute Inpatient Crisis Stabilization
Our acute inpatient program provides short-term psychiatric hospitalization for children and teens experiencing severe emotional or behavioral distress. This level of care may be appropriate when a young person is struggling with severe depression, acute anxiety, mood instability or suicidal ideation and requires stabilization in a secure, therapeutic setting.
Treatment includes psychiatric evaluation, medication management, therapeutic support and coordinated discharge planning.
Pathways Residential Treatment Program
Pathways is a residential treatment program for teen girls who require extended therapeutic support beyond acute stabilization. Using a trauma-informed approach, the program provides structured care, family involvement and integrated academic support in a therapeutic setting.
Educational Services
Children and teens receiving inpatient or residential treatment continue their education through certified educational staff while in our care. Services are designed to support academic progress during treatment.

For adolescents struggling with depression or a mental health issue, help and hope are closer than you think.
“This was such an amazing place that truly did help me through this hard time in my life. I can’t put into words how truly grateful I am for all of you and what you’ve done for me. I don’t know what would have or could have happened if I hadn’t gotten the amazing help I did.”
