Wyoming Behavioral Healthcare understands that the aging process can be stressful. Older adults can experience mental health issues that are often misdiagnosed as cognitive impairments, organic disorders or physical health issues.
Proper diagnosis and treatment are critical to restoring the emotional health and physical well-being of our older patients. Our older adult inpatient program is intended to assist adults age 55 and above who are experiencing an acute psychiatric disorder.
Treatment includes evaluation, differentiation between delirium and dementia, medication management, recreational and skill development groups, individual counseling and discharge planning. Our goal is to help seniors improve functioning so they can regain a higher quality of life.
The multidisciplinary treatment teams include psychiatrists, therapists and nurses. We are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Sam Elsanadi, who specializes in geriatric psychiatry. He joins the team of experienced psychiatrists already providing care at our facility.
Older adults who wish to continue treatment at a less intensive level may transition to our older adult outpatient program. It can also serve as an alternative to individuals who do not require the 24-hour care of an inpatient program.
